Vaccination

Vaccination schedules and overvaccination have been hot topics lately in the veterinary community.  Initially, this discussion concerned cat vaccinations because of the link between vaccinations and certain types of cancers.

There are specific vaccination guidelines concerning for cats and dogs.  Your veterinarian should be aware of these guidelines and can make recommendations and set up a vaccine program for your pet.  Your veterinarian can check your animal’s blood titer level before vaccinating if you are afraid of overvaccination.  Nevertheless, do not leave your pet open to infections or even death by not vaccinating.  There are alternatives.

Adoption

For many of us, our pets are like our children.  We talk to them and buy them gifts for Christmas.  In fact, they are probably more spoiled than our children.  It is this kind of caring that every animal deserves.  The fact is there are so many animals today and many of them do not get the minimal daily and medical care, much less the loving care they should.

If you have room in your life for a new pet, please consider the type and breed of pet carefully.  These pets are very appreciative of the attention and love they receive from you.  The key is to find the type of pet that will best suit your lifestyle.
